A portable sea: feasibility study

Mars lacks one obvious amenity. Engineering has thoughts.

Mars has mountains, canyons and excellent sunsets. It does not have a sea. For most agencies this is trivia; for us it is a blocker.

Requirements

The portable sea must be:

  • Salty to specification (Atlantic, house style).
  • Modular: four hundred parts, each labelled brine, mission critical.
  • Calm on Sundays.

Phase one prototypes include a very committed paddling pool. It currently holds 0.0000004% of a sea, which the team insists on calling a rounding sea.

Wave generation is solved, in the sense that Mars has two moons and we intend to use whichever behaves.

Status: feasible, pending tide negotiations.
